I was born at Wesley Long Hospital, grew up playing in the lake behind Dolley Madison Road, graduated from Western Guilford High School, and rode my skateboard all around Quaker Village.
Greensboro is home.
In 1995, a meaningful conversation with a Young Life leader at Your House Restaurant on Battleground Avenue ultimately led me to receive Christ into my life. From that point on, I have been blessed with spiritual mentors and pastors who have served in Greensboro for years. One of those mentors was Mike Moses, the founder of Grace Discipleship.
I believe Jesus changes everything and the greatest miracle of all is the difference he makes in the ways we relate in our everyday lives. Jesus Christ lives in us so that He can express His life through us.

Work History
For six years, I worked with families and middle school students at Grace Community Church in Greensboro where I was ordained in 2003.
In 2007, I transitioned to Westover Church to serve as the high school pastor and stayed there for six years.
Emily and I are thankful for the years we served together in these beloved local churches and still enjoy relationships with families in both congregations.
In 2013, I transitioned out of youth ministry to be a stay-at-home Dad in order to free up Emily to finish her most recent book and minister through her writing and speaking. It was during that special time that I received training from Dr. Larry Crabb's School of Soul Care and Spiritual Direction. I completed that certificate in December 2014.
On a personal note, Emily and I have been married for sixteen years and enjoy parenting our three kids together. I enjoy tennis, golf, folk music, local history, and hanging out with our church community. The Last Alaskans is one of my favorite TV shows. I love Greensboro and enjoy raising our three kids near family in the same area where I grew up.
